Founded as principally a bicycle retailer by John Looker.

1910

Lookers Ltd. established which started to sell Ford cars.

1918

Appointed as a distributor of Austin motor vehicles.

1960

First group acquisition.

1973

HQ relocated to Chester Road where company operates today.

1978

Acquisition of Platts Harris.

1980

Toyota dealership acquired.

1984

Braid Group acquired.

1989

SMAC Continental acquired.

1996

Charles Hurst acquired (including Fleet Financial).

1998

Neville Johnston Garages acquired.

1999

New dealerships for Suzuki, SEAT, and Mazda.

2002

Spekehall Vauxhall, Rystar Aston, Selly Oak Vauxhall and Elt Brothers.

2003

Taggarts acquired.

2004

FPS, Savoy Honda, Vauxhall, and VW dealerships purchased.

2008

Brammall acquired (now Lookers Leasing).

2011

Get Motoring UK acquired (VRS).

2012

Lomond Audi acquired.

2013

Chipperfield Holdings acquired.

Colbornes acquired.

Vikings Canterbury Ltd, Jaguar Amersham, and Benfield Motor Group acquired.

2016

Drayton Group and Knights North West acquired.

2017

Lookers moves to new state-of-the-art headquarters in Altrincham, Manchester.
Lookers offers online sales.

Jennings Motor Group acquired.

2019

Lookers creates two of the UK’s largest Jaguar Land Rover dealerships (Buckinghamshire, Battersea).

Charles Hurst Group marks 110 years of success in Northern Ireland.
